If you could travel anywhere in the world…where would you go?
Take a moment, close your eyes, and really think about the place you’d pick.
Don’t only think about the place itself, but start to think about the details. Dig a little deeper! Who would you go with? What types of foods would you eat? What sorts of activities would you do while you were there? What types of souvenirs would you likely bring home?
If you are a bit stumped for ideas, ask yourself if you would enjoy swimming in all 5 oceans, riding a gondola through the canals of Venice, throwing tomatoes at those closest to you in La Tomatina (the world’s biggest tomato fight!), or riding in a hot air balloon over Cappadocia, Turkey? Maybe you see yourself riding a camel through the Sahara Desert, visiting the Pyramids in Egypt, spraying your friends with colors during the Holi Festival, or swinging at the end of the world in Ecuador? Maybe visiting all of the Wonders of the World is more your cup of tea?
Now that have some ideas in your head of where you’ll go and some of the details, the first step on our bucket list plan is to put them down on paper.
Once you have your list created, let’s take it a step further. Think about that travel experience that you can’t wait to make happen and ask yourself “what is something that I can do right now to get me one step closer to making it happen?”
Could you set up a time to talk to someone who’s been to your chosen destination to help you plan your trip? Could you go to the library and check out some travel guides? Could you find a local restaurant that serves the cuisine of your chosen location? Could you book your hotel room?
Finally, take some time to find pictures of your ideas creating a Bucket List Board. Hang up your Bucket List Board in a place you’ll see it often as a reminder of your WHY. As they say, when you think about a yellow car, you are bound to see a yellow car. It’s time to find your “yellow car.”
Just like that you have started living the bucket list lifestyle!
If you’re like most people, the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about bucket lists is travel, however, there is much more to living a meaningful, bucket list lifestyle than travel…though travel is a big part if you want it to be!
